what’s the difference between shower shock and an anti scalding valve in plumbing for a shower?
Anti Scald means that if the temp goes too high the valve will choke off the hot water. People refer to Shower Shock as a sudden change in temp, usually when another fixture is used causing the temp in the shower to change; this is prevented by a balancing valve which compensates for the change. So, you need a balancing valve with Anti Scald feature to control both situations.
