Can i put a bath drain on my sump pipe to stop it from sucking in fish?

i have a sump on my 90 gallon and the pipe that sucks in water sucks in fish. i was wondering if i could put a bath drain on it so it can still suck debris but not fish. will the metal cause any problems with the fish? are there and alternative solutions?

I would try to stay away from using any type of metal in the tank. Ive had this problem before and what I did was increase the diameter of the pump intake in the sump to decrease the suction pressure (increasing the diameter of the pipe while keeping the pressure the same will decrease the overall pressure). Then I went to the hardware store, Menards to be exact, and bought plastic strainers used in gutter systems. They come in different diameters, are round, and you’ll have to play around with them a bit to find the right fittings, but they will fit into regular pvc.
