2006 Xterra – Recurring Blower Motor Resistor Problems?
I had a problem where my AC only worked on setting 1, but the light would go off when I turned the fan to 2 – 4. After reading answers on this site and others, I determined that the blower motor resistor had gone bad. I purchased and installed a new, genuine, replacement part from a Nissan dealer (part#: 27150-5Z000). 2 days after installing the new part, now the blower fan only works on setting 4. Settings 1-3 do nothing at all.
Is this a problem with the resistor again? Is something causing the resistor to fail? Anyone else have this problem?

Ok resistance controls speed of the blower motor. The circuit is a blower resistor and load from the blower motor the fan switch grounds those 3 resistors and grounds directly to ground for high speed 12 volts powers the other side of the blower motor. A good shop or technician will have a amp meter and will be able to read the blower motor amperage. Nissan blower motor drawing to many amps will quickly toast the resistor. So be suspicious of the blower motor if it is taking more than 10 or 15 amps to run.
