Copper Hampton

Installed a new Chandelier in place of the old one and it wont turn on, PLEASE HELP!!?
The old Chandelier cam off easy and the two wires in the wall were a twisted pair white wire and a single white wire painted black (supply wire?). I connected the new Chandeliers (hampton bay) brown paired wire to the twisted pair white wire and the new Chandeliers copper colored wire to the black (supply?) wire. I took the ground wire from the new Chandeliers trim and connected it to the ground screw above while leaving room for the ground wire to also connect to the black (supply?) wire. It wont turn on! Any suggestions?
turn off circuit breaker and or power supply and re check the tightness of your wire nuts and that they are connected to the correct wires.
