I have an antique child’s rocker marked ‘Thonet’ in the wood under the seat frame. Curious about the value.?
I purchased this darling little rocking chair nearly 20 years ago and it is still quite sturdy. It has a dark patina due to its age. I wonder if you know more about this or its value? Thank you! wf
Michael Thonet who discovered a way to bend wood by applying steam pressure. It is one of the first examples of machine production and a deliberate manifestation of a manufacturing technique in a finished product. 1796-1871 These items became known as became known as “bentwood” furniture. http://www.thonet.com/history.htm
It’s impossible to date your piece without a series of pictures including the label itself. If it is an original the value would be well over 1K.
