How does drinking lots of water before an activity help prevent dehydration?

For the summer I’m working it a wearhouse. It gets really hot and we need to bring alot of water to work with us. They tell us to drink alot of water before work. How does that help? I would think that if I’m 100% hydrated before i go into work and i keep drinking water then i would just pee it all out.

When you are doing vigorous activity (or work in very hot place), you can lose water by sweating. This can quickly lead to dehydration if you are not consuming enough fluids to make up for what you are sweating out.

Drinking Water Crisis and Vulnerable Livelihood $109.93 Drinking water crisis affects the coastal region of Bangladesh and nowadays its a matter to collect safe and pure drinking water. The appearance of drinking water crisis has posed as a public health hazard having a very significant impact on peoples life, health, social and economic activities in Bangladesh. In fact, the arsenic and salinity contamination of groundwater and surface water has created additional burden in the rural water supply. The present study examines and explores the peoples practices, perceptions and adaptation strategies to mitigate drinking water crisis. It was found in the study areas that about 56.1 of the shallow tubewell water contained arsenic above WHO recommended Bangladesh standard of 0.05 milligram per liter. Besides, salinity in drinking water also exceeds the WHO guidelines. The study results depict that about 72.3 respondents were affected by different types of diseases in which 79.9 were medically treated. Social stigma and conflicts were also reported due to water crisis in the study villages. A participatory planning strategy was undertaken with the local residents to pick up the solution to minimize their drinking water crisis. Assessment of Drinking Water Quality $97.19 The water quality of 100 cisterns in Hebron city Palestine was studied through the period from December, 2007 till April, 2008. Water samples were collected directly from cisterns in two sterile glass bottles and tested for physical parameters (electrical conductivity, salinity, total dissolved substances, pH, temperature and turbidity), chemical parameters (alkalinity, chloride, total hardness, calcium, magnesium, ammonia and nitrate), microbiological parameters ( total coliform(Te and faecal coliform(Fe). All the results of physical parameters are within the acceptable limits of WHO, EPA and Palestinian standards except turbidity which exceed these limits in 24 of the cases. The percentage of contamination of total coliform and faecal coliform was 95, 57, respectively. The chemical parameters exceed the standards by different percentages (calcium 47, magnesium 32), other parameters give results below the maximum contaminant levels. Inactivation of Pathogens in Drinking Water Using Ozone $108.33 Water is an essential resource for human life. However, more than 1.2 billion people still do not have access to safe drinking water.
