Why does my new elongated, 1.5 gallon flush toilet leave residue after flushing?
Is it because I am not sitting back far enough on the seat or does the water level need to be adjusted? There is no room in the tank to raise the water level higher. Or, is this something that I just have to live with? At least my old toilet kept the bowl clean…..I’m too embarrassed to ask the plumber.
Low-flow toilets don’t use as much water to wash the bowl, so residue can be left behind. But that’s not necessarily the case with ALL low-flow toilets: some are a lot better than others at cleaning the bowl and minimizing clogs. I once installed new low-flow toilets in my house and had problems similar to yours. Also had clogging problems (teenagers seem to have a talent for this). I finally replaced the toilets with a different brand and wow, what a difference. No problems at all. I’ve since installed that second brand of toilet, in different models, in two different houses and still no problems. So you have to do some shopping to find a good one.
