service engine light causes car to go into safe mode?

I have an 08 lancer and the service required light came on because i modified the exhaust to make it faster. my qustion is, does the service engine light, NOT the check engine light…….does it cause the car to go in safe mode? (where it uses more gas and doesnt go as fast). because i know in most cars the check engine light does cause the car to go into safe mode.

If you have a different light for the check engine light then the light you are talking about probably is telling you it’s time to change the oil. Look in the manual to see how to reset the light after you change the oil.
