Just replaced my garden hose valve with a valve that has an anti-siphon device built in.It hammers.What to do?

The garden hose bib or “hydrant” is 14″ and has a anti-siphon valve built in. The ant-siphon valve hammers loudly. Why is it and how can I fix it? Thanks Ray

When you replaced the valve you may have lost the air in the risers in your house. There should be some risers that absorb the shock of the water being shut off and the sudden pressure build up from the stop of the flow of water. If you have an electric water heater shut it off. Then shut off your water supply to the house. Open all the valves in your house everything outside and in and allow all the water to drain out. When it is done draining close everything and turn your water back on. The faucets will spit and sputter till all the lines are full again but your shock risers will still have air trapped. If this doesn’t work I have no idea.
