Central Heating $117.9 A central heating system provides warmth to the whole interior of a building or portion of a building from one point to multiple rooms. When combined with other systems in order to control the building climate, the whole system may be a HVAC heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. Central heating differs from local heating in that the heat generation occurs in one place, such as a furnace room in a house or a mechanical room in a large building though not necessarily at the central geometric point. The most common method of heat generation involves the combustion of fossil fuel in a furnace or boiler. Design of a Renewable EnergyBased Air Heating System $181.62 The objective of this research was to design, develop and investigate the performance of a solarbiomass hybrid air heating system to supply hot air at a specific temperature and flow rate for a daily load fraction exceeding 90. The system consists of an unglazed transpired solar collector (UTe, a rock bed thermal storage, and a biomass gasifier stove with heat exchanger. From a review of literature, an air heating system, aimed at reducing the weather dependency and improving the temperature and flow rate stability without a conventional backup heater, was designed. Based on analysis of various types of solar collectors, thermal storage, biomass stoves and heat exchangers that are commonly used, individual components of the air heating system were designed and fabricated. A mathematical model was developed to predict the thermal performance of UTC for a wide range of design operating conditions. The components were coupled, and detailed experimentation carried out on the integrated system. Using only renewable energy for its operation, the system offers a reliable alternative to other REbased dryers with conventional backup heaters, for mediumscale drying of food products. Solar Water Heating in Dragash Municipality, Kosovo $106.74 Water has been heated with the sun almost as long as there have been humans, but it is not until recently that more advanced and effective solar water heating systems have become common, and they are still gaining ground. Through the years new systems and new solar collectors have been developed. In Kosovo, however, not much attention has been paid to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy sources and solar water heating systems is a new concept. However, a solar water heating system has been installed at the hospital in Dragash Municipality in southern Kosovo. The system is a pilot project, to see how well solar energy can be used in this area. This thesis examines the existing solar water heating system at the hospital in Dragash. The possibilities of using the fundamental principle of the solar water heating system at the hospital on residential houses in Dragash is looked into. The total annual incoming solar radiation for one square meter is calculated. The environmental, social and economic effects of solar water heating in Dragash is considered and discussed.
