I guess the holes are probably the result of bubbles air in the material as applied. It seems that uses a thin material such as polyurethane. I had a similar problem last year, when the application of polyurethane with a brush. I have an air pistol, but choose not to use on this project because my project requires multiple standard settings. I had to clean my pump after each use. It would have taken twice as long to clean, since they have taken to spraying. So I invested in a gun powered HVLP conversion by gravity. Could apply the material in a controlled manner, with professional results. An HVLP gun requires a compressor. This material is applied too little air pressure, so most of your hardware is in your project and not a cloud. Remember that compressed air has moisture in it, so it would be desirable to filter the air. Hope this helps.
